*ROFL*
Please to be clicking here... and then on "Buy Tickets" next to Waiting for Godot... and then on "Buy Tickets" again next to the Saturday August 9th 8pm show... and then again on the right section of seats.

See that one sold ticket in the front row? That'd be me. *LMAO*

No one in my family wanted to go with me and my bff is too poor/cheap to go, so I just went ahead and bought myself a lonely ticket way back at the beginning of June. I even got my sister (the bride) and my mom and my other sister to change the date of the bridal shower we're throwing at my parent's house on Saturday to the same day so that I could just make one trip up to CT/MA for both. So tomorrow I'm driving up to CT with my sister and on Saturday we're having the shower and then I'm driving up to Stockbridge for the play and I am SO. FREAKING. EXCITED!!!!!!

Waiting for Godot is getting amazing reviews and Mr. Harrison is getting tons of praise for his role. He has just one speaking part, but it is a 3 page crazy monologue that the critics are all floored by. Apparently he also performs a rather significant dance... twice.

I can't wait to see it for myself. And if you really did follow my instructions at the beginning of this post you can buy yourself a ticket right next to mine right this very moment and we can enjoy two and a half hours of incredible theatre together! Do it. Dooooo itttttt. You know you want to...

random roundup
In the process of moving and cleaning out my desk I found a billion scraps of paper with notes to myself about things I wanted to post about. They've been collecting for a few weeks, possibly months. Some of it is RL stuff, some is fandom stuff, and some is in that murky area where fandom and RL mix.

clickety click )

Ok, so there weren't really a billion scraps, but there was a little pile of them :P

Thank you for all the birthday wishes! It's amazing how happy a little "Happy Birthday!" post or e-card can make this silly little fangirl :)

Thank you especially to [info]4cupcakes1988 for the RL present. It's perfect and it was so sweet of you to send it!

Reason #9,846,369,502
Watched 308 because... forget that. I don't need to have a reason to watch 308 ;)

Now I'm watching 408 because I needed some angst, but between the amazing Brian and Justin scenes (like "tell me about Ibiza" which is, omg, such an incredibly beautiful scene) I got to watch Carl help Deb forgive herself for what she said to Vic before he died.

Which scene made me cry? Carl and Deb. Reason #9,846,369,502 why I love QAF - Brian and Justin are wonderful and Teh Love between them is perfect, but the rest of the show is just as good and sometimes even better.

I'm so happy to see I'm not the only bisexual in these parts :D Happy Pride!

Your result for The Sexuality Spectrum Test...

Bi/Slightly Straight

You scored 5 (-52 being completely gay, 0 being bisexual, and 52 being completely straight)

For the most part, you are bisexual. You have a slight preference for the opposite gender, but either gender would suit you. If you are sexually inexperienced, it is possible that this will change after you do some experimenting.

my "bosses"
Most of the time I work with three older guys in the office at the bookstore.

S. is almost 30 and he's the general manager of the bookstore. He's funny and nice and sits around sort of singing to himself while paying bills and stuff.

C. is 50-something and is the head bookbuyer. He was meeting with some representative of a publisher the other day, looking at the catalogs for the new books coming out in the fall, and I overheard him say this: "Cartesianism is the corruption of scholasticism." He likes big words ;)

D. is 63 and is the owner of the bookstore. The other day he was talking about one of the other publisher reps who was on vacation. She's a lesbian. He said, "She's at a seminar for women to learn how to use handtools. What could be more perfect for a gang of dykes!" A minute later he mumbled to himself, "They get to wear those belts." *LMAO* For the record, it was said with love. This particular rep is fantastic and is definitely a favorite for all four of us.

help!
I need some advice, quick! I'm sitting on my bed in my underwear (I just got out of the shower) and I'm trying to decide what to do tonight because, you see, it's pride weekend here in DC.

Factors to consider before taking the poll:
* it's raining and I'd have to walk/metro it if I go out
* if I go out, I'll have to pay for a cab home later
* I'll have to pay a cover charge at the dyke bar, but not the breeder bar
* I woke up at 6am this morning and marched in the parade today (in the pouring rain! more commentary to come) so I'm kinda tired
* this is my first ever pride weekend

Poll #1919 What should pend do tonight?
Open to: All, results viewable to: All

What should I do tonight?

View Answers

go to a dyke bar and dance

0 (0.0%)

put on pajamas and read in bed
1 (6.7%)

put on pajamas and play in fandom
3 (20.0%)

something else entirely
1 (6.7%)

ETA: Convincing comments might help me to actually follow the results of the poll...

bored out of my gourd
la la la I'm bored bored bored

Even playing on IJ and LJ is not doing it for me today. Blah. BUT, the movie "The Family Stone" is on TV right now. I saw it once before and liked it and now I'm watching it again. I think I like it because it combines two of my favorite things - sign language and a gay character. Actually, it combines both in one character. Hee! And it has Sarah Jessica Parker, and while I wouldn't say I'm a fan of any sort, I don't mind her. hmmm I feel like I had a point to this post, but now I forget. la la la I'll be back if I remember :)

ETA: I remembered! Nothing like watching a Christmas movie when it's a million degrees out :P weatherchannel.com said it felt like 107 this afternoon, gay blech ack

ETA2: I might be a fan of Rachel McAdams though *cough*

Do yourself a favor and go read these six fics. They are all, and I mean ALL, fanfuckingtastic. I couldn't help but squee all over them in the comments. Seriously, I don't think I could have said "amazing!" or "fantastic!" or "perfect!" enough times.

theatre, Santa Claus, 18, blood
Random news:

* Bunny and Xie should skip this bullet because it's not about Justin )

* For months now I've been passing the same man (who may or may not be homeless and/or an alcoholic) on my walk to and from work. I see him at least 4 or 5 times a week. So last week we finally introduced ourselves. His name is Fernando and he's rather old and he reminds me of an African American Santa Claus. Rosy cheeks. Big smile. Friendly and good-natured. *shrug* I just wanted to share.

* The other day at the grocery store the woman in line behind me started chatting with me. She asked how old I was; "You're what? 17? 18?" Me sheepishly; "23" I am 5 feet and 0 inches tall and weigh 112 lbs and look like I'm 18. Um, sweet?

* Some guy got in a knife fight somewhere in my neighborhood last night. He ran up the stairs in front of my house and down the stairs to my basement level apartment door and hid from the police. They came and found him and he dripped blood all over the stairs. Like, kind of a lot of blood. It was bright red and there were flies all over it this morning. I was going to take a picture this afternoon, but it seems the flies ate it all while I was gone. I slept through the excitement, but Joe heard the police yelling and stuff (his room is next to the front door and mine is in the back of the apartment). I'm NOT going to tell my mom about this. Joe and I pretty much always lock our front door at night, but I think I'll make sure it's always locked from now on. He could have tried to hide IN our apartment if our door had been unlocked last night.

home again home again
72 hours, 10 states, 1 memorial service, and 3 chapters of tumor!fic later, I'm back home... and "home" means DC now ♥

* 72 hours - Friday night to Monday night
* 10 states - Virginia, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland (and DC of course)
* 1 memorial service for my grandma )
* 3 chapters of tumor!fic. I saved it onto my laptop (all 313 pages of it!!!) and (re)read the first 3 chapters (172 pages). I would have read all 4 chapters if my computer battery hadn't died. Nothing makes an 8-hour car trip fly by like tumor!fic. I think I read for about 6 hours of the ride from New Hampshire to Maryland today.

Anyway, add it all up and you get:

Sleepiness is
I made it to NYC. I slept for the entire flight, all 45 minutes of it. I woke up for takeoff and barely woke up when we landed. In a little while I'll get on my next flight to Maine. I'll probably sleep for that one too. And then I don't know when I'll have time to play online again until I get back to Washington on Monday night. So enjoy my spam while it lasts :)

Did you know JetBlue has free wireless access in their terminals? Maybe I'll be able to use my T-mobile wireless day pass when I'm at the hotel with my family tonight.

I want to give the man who designed this terminal with 20+ gates and only 1 women's bathroom with (count em) only 4 stalls a firm talking to. Or maybe a Debbie-style whack upside the head.

I finally have time to post, but now I think I want to keep the details to myself... A few things that made me very happy in the last two weeks - strawberry ice cream, spontaneous trips to the Atlantic Ocean to watch the sun rise, dolphins, nighttime walks in Washington, and the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall. All have slightly involved stories that, like I said, I kind of want to keep for myself right now. Except for the movie. You should see it if you can. It was fantastically funny.

ION, I read some of the challenge fics, but then I decided I was sleepy and starting to get grumpy and hungry and needed some comfort!fic instead. So I read blind!Justin... again. I adore that fic.

My life has gotten crazy busy lately. I feel like I haven't had a minute to stop and think. I have a long list of both rl things and fandom things I want to post about. I'll start with the most important :)

Berkshire Theatre Festival
Completely random chain of events:

The head book-buyer and I were talking about French the other day because I didn't know what "merde" meant and there are all these books by Stephen Clarke (A Year In the Merde, Merde Happens) that have it in the title *is slow sometimes* (It's ok if you're slow too. It means "shit".)

He then brought up "Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett because... I don't know why... The french connection maybe? I don't remember.

So then I of course mentioned that I was going to go see it (hopefully) at the Berkshire Theatre Festival this summer.

The bookstore manager who was sitting on the other side of the office says, "My mom does the costumes for BTF."

Me - "omg really?" *tries to contain the squee* *does not succeed*

Manager - Yeah, she did them last summer too.

Me - "OMG I saw 'Mrs. Warren's Profession' and 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' there last summer!! The costumes were great!" *refrains from talking about how fangirls squeed about how cute Randy looked in his period dress*

Book-buyer and I discuss George Bernard Shaw's play for a bit. Go back to ordering books.

The end :P

A kitchen bright and a singing kettle makes home the place you want to settle
The good news: [info]not_yet_defined is in Washington, DC!
The bad news: [info]pendulumchanges is in Connecticut for the weekend :(
The best news: pend will be back in DC on Monday and she and ny will have dinner together!!!

OMG *squeee!!* This will be my very first real life fangirl meeting :D :D :D Think she'll mind if I forget to call her by her real name and call her "ny" instead? (Which, btw, I pronounce nye, rhymes with rye like the bread, in my head.)

So yes, I am in CT for my mom's surprise 60th birthday party. )

308 fangirl ramblings )

And this is why I leave the fanfic writing to the professionals because I just imagine schmoop in these sorts of terms and with this sort of flow and that's fantastically satisfying in my head because I can just picture it and it's beautiful and hot and romantic, but if I attempted to write it? pfft. I'll stick to angsty drabbles, kthnx. And by the way, omg FOURTY ONE FICS submitted for the challenge in two parts at [info]qaf_challenges!!! This fandom is fabulous.

Coincidence? I think not.
Came across something interesting today while ordering books at work...

We sold 6 copies of the play "Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett in 2007. In just the first 4 months of 2008, we've already sold 3 copies.

We sold 1 copy of William Shakespeare's "Antony and Cleopatra" in all of 2007. We've already sold 3 copies this year.

Mr. Randy Harrison just finished his run as Eros in "Antony and Cleopatra" at the Theatre For A New Audience in NYC. This summer he will be taking on the role of Lucky in "Waiting for Godot" at the Berkshire Theatre Festival.

Coincidence? I think not :)
