For personal reasons I've decided to make all of the entries in my journal private, with the exception of my fiction, which will always remain completely open and unlocked to everyone. I just wanted to let you know. It has nothing to do with fandom or fangirls or anything like that, but with real life nonsense that will hopefully go away eventually. Until then you won't see anything new around here unless I write new fic (which is a distinct possibility). Please don't defriend me because someday I might be back and it would be sad if I didn't have any friends when I did. I'll still be checking in and commenting occasionally and will respond to comments left on my fiction, all of which can be found HERE.

That didn't happen, but I saved the bits I'd worked on and just now I reread them and realized that this section wasn't so bad. It's not anything special and the timeline is weird, but meh *shrugs* I'm just posting it as is :)

He sleeps, warm and soft in my arms… until his screams split the night.

We walk down Liberty Avenue, laughing hand-in-hand… until someone's bag bumps him as they pass. Suddenly he's pressed against my side, I'm tripping over his feet, and my fingers are crushed in his.

He paints, with complete focus and determination… until his hand spasms, and the piece is ruined. He hurls his brush across the room so hard he almost loses his balance. Paint splatters everywhere when it hits the wall. His entire body shakes while he cries.

I forget, sometimes. Until I remember.

Dear Fandom,

I've just come across a fic by suzvoy, "This Time", that I must have read before at some point and that I now realize most certainly had a significant subconscious influence on my recently posted ficlet, "Again and Again". I wasn't thinking of "This Time" when I was writing my ficlet. Tonight I was just looking for something to read and came across it in one of my many random bookmarks. When I started reading I quickly realized that the base storyline from the first section of the fic - Debbie calling very early in the morning to let Brian and Justin know that Darren/Shanda was bashed - made it into my brain whenever I read it before. I guess the idea stuck, even though the source didn't. I don't really remember reading it before, but it's familiar enough that I'm sure I did.

I'm sorry for the inadvertent quasi-plagiarism. Go read "This Time" because it's awesome and suz filled the gap first.

*eeeeee!!!* OMG I wrote a ficlet! Technically speaking this is my first ever ficlet. I've written 8 drabbles, 1 double drabble, and one real fic (it was short, but longer than a ficlet I think). So yeah, this is my first ficlet :) [The rest of my humble oeuvre is HERE if you're interested.]

And this is silly because I know I wrote it and posted it myself, but it still feels like I'm seeing it "in print" for the first time and it's very exciting. I look at my flist and there it is!! Again and Again by pendulumchanges!!!

I've discovered my writing method - I randomly type up strings of thoughts and bits of dialogue and detailed images and then a million months later I come back to them, make tiny changes, slap together an ending, have it betaed, and post it immediately. It seems to work for me.

ZOMG I wrote a fic!!! A whole fic! Me! And I like the way it turned out!!!

Before you get too excited *cough* bookgirl24 *cough*... I didn't write a new one. I'm just finally getting around to posting my qaf_giftxchnge fic here on my journal.

But before I do that I must say this - Thank you so much ohfreckle for running the exchange! I still haven't actually read any of the fics that were given (including the one that vamphile gave me! I completely missed it!), but I will be doing that as soon as I find the time and I'm sure I'll enjoy them. Thanks for your patience with me at deadline time too :)

I must say that in the end I'm glad I participated in the gift exchange. I didn't get the death!fic I requested (*sigh* I should have known better than to even request it), but as I said in an email to sanami right after I submitted my fic, "Being able to deliver my gift is reward enough for me. Just participating in the exchange has turned into a really great gift to myself!" This was the first long fic I ever wrote! Without the deadline and the knowledge that someone wouldn't get a gift if I didn't put out (ha) I don't think I would have managed to finish my fic. When I finally finished it I was on the hugest high! It was such a relief to get it done in time for the exchange (I emailed it at 6:30pm on the 24th) and to actually be happy with the final product :) I worked hard guys. I'm proud of myself and what I was able to produce.

All that being said, I don't think I'll be participating in another exchange/challenge/anything-with-a-deadline anytime soon! Deadlines are why I hated school so much for all those years. I can't believe I put myself through that stress again... voluntarily! No more deadlines for me. If by some miracle I manage to finish the hoody!fic I started back when the hoody challenge first went up at qaf_drabbles I might submit it to the Second Chance challenge. It's hurt/comfort of course. I know what I like to write. No more of this humor writing for me!

One more thing and then I'll actually get to this fic I'm rambling about... Thank you, thank you, thank you to vamphile for the last minute beta! She caught a handful of things that improved the fic, but more importantly, she told me the ending sucked :) Not really, she just told me I changed tone halfway through and that she would add something to the end to wrap things up if it were her fic... so that's exactly what I did! The last section wasn't there until she told me that something similar to what's there now would be the way she would have ended it. I listened to her (duh, why wouldn't I?) and wrote an ending. So thank her for the fact that my fic actually HAS an ending, because I was planning to just end it with an ellipsis... which I use all the time... probably way more than I should... sorry about that... but ANYway...

In case you just got a reply to a comment you left on something I posted months ago and are wondering what the fuck that's all about...

Seeing as I've finally learned how to actually use LJ and IJ and that I'm now thoroughly involved in the QAF fandom, I figured that it would be nice of me to reply to comments people left for me back when I was a technologically-challenged-fandom-lurker (especially if I expect to ever get any comments back again!) I love getting comments on anything I post and really enjoy the conversations that often get going from them. But when I get feedback on my fanfic it makes me so happy, you have no idea!
